Tips & Tricks for a Smooth Newborn Experience
This is a great place to find exactly the tips and tricks that I provide my clients for their lifestyle experience. My goal is to make you and baby feel as as ease as possible. I love that at home feel and makes gorgeous memories to look back on. I will go over the most important ways to prepare for your session and hopefully answer some lingering questions that you may have. Let's Jump into it!
What Should we have ready?
Typically we will spend a lot of our time in the nursery, but I do like to utilize the master bedroom and living space with the most natural lighting. I love capturing those little details that you have worked so hard on while preparing for your bundle of joy to arrive. No you do not need to deep clean your whole house as I am a mama & wife myself and truly understand a lived in home. This is a no judgement zone, so do not stress the small stuff! Here are a few things to have ready to photograph your sweet session.
- Have your baby's crib cleared of clutter or distracting colors. (this way we can capture baby in their beautiful little space)
- Get the burp cloths ready! Because spit up happens!
- Feed baby as I am arriving to get them comfy and in that milk slumber (also this is a great opportunity for feeding captured)
- A bobby Pillow can be very useful with a neutral colored blanket
- Little caps or headbands are a great addition to your photos!
What Should We Wear?
When all else fails Neutrals are your best bet! Choose comfortable and casual since this is after all a lifestyle experience. I would stay away from any bright colors, logos, large graphics, and distracting patterns. I will bring a few nice swaddles and accessories from my studio selection to assist in babies wardrobe.
What Time Should we have our session?
The best time to photograph a brand new baby is the within the first three weeks. Once you are booked, Late morning is typically best, however, consider when your home has the most natural light! A session can last up to 3 hours depending on how baby allows us to work and the vision you want captured. Patience is always key and I have plenty!
Can we include our dog?
Absolutely! I love when my clients include their pups – they are part of the family too!
Are Siblings Included?
Yes!! A new baby is so exciting and we would not want to leave those first born babies out of the picture! It is such an amazing bonding experience to see them hold that brand new baby.
